Le Pigalle

Pigalle’s rock spirit in a hotel as unstructured as its neighborhood.

So, it’s not fancy, the view is not the best, and it’s probably noisy, but it’s Pigalle. Yes, that is Pigalle. The neighborhood has been changing to the dismay of its lovers. Some say it has gentrified. This is probably true, but, in Paris more than elsewhere, neighborhoods’ mutations take time. Meanwhile the picture remains. The picture of a neighborhood where intriguing things will always happen, especially at night. Not dangerous ones – or sometimes, but rarely. Yet, always surprising things. Share a nightcap at 4 in the morning with a missing rock star, dancing with lost tourists, falling asleep on a sidewalk, meeting artists of the district, listening to music and drinking good bourbon whiskey. Pigalle is all that. It’s not recommended by the World Health Organization, but that’s what it is. The Hotel Pigalle embodies this spirit, and it is almost an exploit at a time when the hotel business is conforming to standards. Hotel business tries to please everyone, while Hotel Pigalle refuses to do so.
